After reading the reviews and looking at photos I was excited to try this cozy “authentic” Italian restaurant. It also seemed to have a great price point but it turns out you get what you pay for. Upon walking in we considered leaving because it smelled like mold, but after driving 25 minutes here we wanted to give it a try. The cacio e pepe was more of an Alfredo, not authentic at all and drowning in sauce. I am obsessed with pasta and I did not even eat half of it… My mom got the bolognese and it was actually pretty good, it was very spicy which we love, however it does not specify that in the description so beware if you don’t like spicy foods.
I went to Al Di la last night for the first time in about two years. We were a party of 4 and all of us have been there several times over the years. I had heard it was under new management so we were not sure what to expect.
Well we were all very disappointed. The menu has completely changed and was a lot smaller. The appetizers were good but all 4 main courses were truly awful for an authentic Italian restaurant. We unfortunately will not be going back. The place was also dead for a Saturday night but it was very bad weather out. We all walked out of there questioning whether or not this restaurant would be staying open. I will say that our server was nice as was the other staff we encountered.
So this brought back a lot of memories of small places in Brooklyn where i grew up... Our food was a great portion, well seasoned, delicious and comforting - as we were looking for italian, it did not disappoint - plus i felt i was in the lower level parlor floor in a brownstone in the heights.... well kinda...we would go back !
My husband and I double dated with my grandparents for Valentine's Day dinner and all of us loved it all! We each ordered something different for meals and shared a couple of appetizers- none of us disappointed with our choices! We tried the canolies for dessert and it was the perfect finish to our meal! The atmosphere was cozy and quiet enough for us to catch up and enjoy each other's company.
Went to Al Di La back in March, we had been a few times and each time the quality of food dropped greatly. This last time was really unfortunate for me, my boyfriend and I got a pizza and some pastas to split neither of us liked the pizza but I nibbled on some of the meats on top while we waited for the rest of our food. I ended up getting food poisoning for the first time ever and have never felt so sick in my whole life. The gnocchi was okay, the pizza was eh, and the bolognese was the worst I’ve ever had. I’m not sure which one caused the food poisoning my guess would be the meat on the pizza because my boyfriend didn’t eat but one bite of it and I ate all the toppings off of it. Our server was very sweet and attentive.
This place we picked was on the whim, and was a secondary choice, but honestly should be your first. Food tasted amazing and I'd come back again.
Went last night, service was great. My husband's steak and potatoes were delicious. Thank goodness he is so sweet and lets me eat of his plate even when it is delicious. We cleaned his plate. My eggplant was good. My dirty Hendricks on the rocks was perfect. We enjoyed the atmosphere and were treated so nicely.
Fantastic food! Everything is fresh with robust flavor-although not over powering. Solid wine menu as I like that the choices were thought out and 1000 different options. The atmosphere lends well to a crowd or a more private moment. The staff are very knowledgeable and fun to be around. Been here many times and will definitely be back.
